This course is offered in collaboration with vision rehabilitation centers in and around the Montreal region. Therefore, placements depend on the availability of clinical staff to accept student placements. Observational internships are conducted on Mondays and/or Fridays, because no other courses are offered on these week days. Students may be required to travel to and from observational internship sites, alone or in groups, depending on the site. The course can be completed over 10 weeks (1 observation per week) or over fewer weeks (1 or 2 observations per week), depending on the availabilities at the clinical site.
Students will complete a total of 10 observations, with the following division
• 6 days with a vision rehabilitation therapist (sight substitution)
• 2 days with a low vision therapist (sight enhancement)
• 2 days with an orientation & mobility specialist
